Expedia - searches all airlines, came up with a slightly better deal than BMI's site.
Airline-Network - another useful site for searching flights from several operators.
SideStep - a useful tool that compares various prices.
SeatGuru - provides a comparison of legroom, in-flight entertainment, etc.
Airline Quality Rating - provides annual reports on US-operated airlines.

:: Accommodation ::

Priceline - never pay rack rates again; save up to 50% (or more) with opaque bidding.
TripAdvisor - fantastic site where people provide reviews of hotels (and much more).
Hyatt - my new favourite chain of hotels - the one in Austin was fantastic.
Westin - a close second, there isn't a great deal to choose between the two.
Marriott - we only stayed in one JW Marriott (Houston), no complaints about it.
Chisos Mining Co Motel - one of a number of small motels in Terlingua.
Holland Hotel - homepage of the Holland Hotel, a quaint historical hotel in Alpine.

NPS - the official National Park Service website.
Texas Parks & Wildlife Dept - official site, provides info on all State Parks in Texas.
Log of Outer Mountain Loop - a good trip report on the hike in Big Bend N.P.
TexasHiking - provides info, difficulty ratings, etc. on various hikes in Texas.
SummitPost - Guadalupe Peak - information on the highest point in Texas.

The Big Texan - the Big Texan steak ranch, home of the free 72oz steak.
Terra Galleria - photography site with some truly amazing National Park photographs.
Roadside America - lists quirky attractions; reminded us to visit Cadillac Ranch.
