Highlights - Cities

A new category this year - with four big cities on the trip and, more importantly, my using a tripod for the first time, I got enough skyline shots and the like to warrant the category.

The amount of effort involved in getting the shots of the Houston skyline and the Austin skyline varied dramatically - the former involved a ridiculously early start, a fair drive and then getting bitten constantly.  The latter merely involved pulling back the hotel curtains.  But I love the way both came out; certainly neither would have been possible with the camera merely handheld.

The Chicago shot surprised me; most pictures I take out aircraft windows don't work at all well - and while this required some tinkering with contrast and colours in Photoshop, I don't think the end product is too shabby.
