Highlights - Landscapes

These are some of my favourite landscape photographs. Included in the collection below are the Grand Canyon, Havasu Canyon, Big Sur and more. Please use the 'day by day' section to view the many other landscape photos not listed here.

These pictures are my favourites for numerous reasons - the Grand Canyon photo highlights the intensity of the sun and the total lack of shade. I liked the small figures in the distance hiking to Cottonwood Campground, but the activity in the centre of the photo is a stark contrast to that which surrounds it, helping to portray a feel of immense solitude. The photo of Hwy-163 leading into Monument Valley is in several ways also a 'lonely' photo, but the empty road stretching out into the horizon is also perhaps symbolic of freedom. The Big Sur photo is perhaps my favourite of them all - I love the rich colours and the layout of the features which lead one's eye to the small bridge and the rocks on the horizon.
